AI coding with receipts.
The local-first software engineer of the Mainely Code family. Start with approachable coding help today. Follow the path toward more capable, proof-driven engineering in LITE and ADVANCED.

The expansion is coming. The current 4B edition is available now.
Buildroom starts with real work: understanding a project, untangling an error, drafting a useful script, or shaping a small idea into code.
The broader engineering direction goes further: clear scope, reviewable changes, verification, proof, and recovery. Different editions deliver different levels of that experience. A model sounding confident is not the same as a job being finished.
3B, 4B, 7B, and 8B are coming to FREE EDITION. Here is why.

If you can dream it, we will help you Build it.
A first look at Windows app control with explicit permission. This development screen brings the chosen app, exact action, and authorization into view before a plan is prepared.
Choose the Windows app and describe the goal.
Specify the action, target control, and expected control after the action.
Confirm that you own the PC/app or are authorized to operate it.
In development. This is a preview, not a release announcement. Autopilot availability will be confirmed with the Microsoft Store release.
Start free. Grow when you are ready.
Buildroom’s next chapter starts with access—not a bigger barrier.

Planned before the end of the month.
Planned before the end of 2026.
Release roadmap updated September 5, 2026. LITE and ADVANCED dates are planned release windows, not present availability. Model support, hardware requirements, and capabilities are release-specific. The 3B / 4B / 7B / 8B FREE expansion is announced; it is not represented as already included in today’s Store download.
You do not need a grand plan. Start with a question, a small project, or that one task you keep putting off.
Make unfamiliar projects a little less intimidating. Ask what a function does and why it works.
Explain this function in plain English. Walk me through the inputs, outputs, and possible edge cases.
Turn a repetitive job into a practical starting point. Read and test the result before running it.
Help me draft a PowerShell script that lists files by size. Start with a read-only version.
Give that idea a first shape: a simple page, a small component, or a front-end scaffold.
Help me create a simple HTML and CSS landing page for a local business. Keep the code easy to edit.
Bring a confusing error, log, or configuration. Ask better questions and find your next step.
Explain this error, identify the likely causes, and suggest the smallest safe check to try first.
Starter ideas, not guaranteed results. Review generated code and test changes before using them. Model availability and performance depend on your hardware and installed release.
Yes. Mainely Code Buildroom—FREE EDITION is available for $0 on the Microsoft Store. You do not need a paid Buildroom edition to start using it. Your PC, storage, and electricity are still your own resources.
Not yet. The current Store release describes a local 4B model. We have announced an expansion to 3B, 4B, 7B, and 8B for FREE EDITION. Read the announcement for what is changing; check the Store release details before downloading.
Buildroom is a Windows desktop app. Check the current Microsoft Store system requirements before installing. Model performance depends on available memory, processor, graphics hardware, and workload. Supporting an 8B model does not mean every PC can run it comfortably.
LITE EDITION is planned for the Microsoft Store before the end of September 2026, with further upgrades following the FREE expansion. ADVANCED EDITION is planned for late fall or early winter, before the end of 2026. These are release targets, not claims of current availability.
