Buildroom—FREE EDITION is getting 3B, 4B, 7B, and 8B model options. That means a broader starting point for people exploring local AI coding: understanding a project, drafting scripts, working through errors, and shaping an idea into something they can build on.
The current Microsoft Store release describes a local 4B model. The expanded lineup is announced, not yet represented as available in that download. We have not announced an exact date for the FREE expansion. Check the app’s release details for the models included in the version you install.
The ambition is bigger than the model sizes.
We want to bring the possibilities of bleeding-edge AI closer to everyday use. We are focusing on useful options, clear expectations, and an approachable way to start. Small local models and larger frontier systems are not interchangeable, and the right fit still depends on your task and your PC.
LITE follows. ADVANCED is on the horizon.
Buildroom—LITE EDITION will receive further upgrades following the FREE expansion. Its Microsoft Store release is planned before the end of September 2026.
Buildroom—ADVANCED EDITION is planned for late fall or early winter, before the end of 2026. Final pricing, supported models, and hardware requirements will accompany the release.
